Proud to have it - Memories from another life

Hi everyone! Remember Andra, my beloved friend who had a guest post on my blog at the end of September? I’m more than happy to present you another story of hers. Thank you Andra for these beautiful words! They have convinced me once again what a great story teller you are.

New guest post by Andra Samson (owner at povesticumiez.wordpress.com)

In another life I’m sure I lived in some royal realm. Or so I choose to believe. Gates of fer forgé, purple velvet, black and white photos, silk, cameo medallions, old leather books, large hats and satin gloves never cease to put a spell on me. I would trade the ultimate modern necklace with a chaplet of pearls in a blink of an eye - sign of reminiscing from another life in another time.

The pearl string is pure immersion in old times. And when I plunge back there, I barely want to let go and come back.

But the cameo ring is a whole different story. A dearest present from a dearest friend. Years ago, he frantically stormed through countless antique shops only to find the cameo with the most heart throbbing story. And he did. He did not want to give me a piece of jewelry, but a slice of somebody’s life. It is said that the ring belonged to a young woman, fair haired and eyes like fire, who had just married to a brave soldier in WWII. They were married for merely two hours, when he was called for duty and had to leave.

He died in combat never to return to his beloved. And the young widow now wept and kept the only ever gift received from her love.

My fascination is an understatement…

Proud to have it – Stories behind bracelets

I admire Andra very much. She is a beautiful woman and one of the most beautiful people I've ever met. Andra is a great story teller which is why I asked her to tell me the story of her favorite jewels. I’m sure she would have been able to come up with a fairy tale but this time pictures say more than words. And this is only the beginning.

Guest post by Andra Samson

I am a story collector and bracelets are my guilty pleasure. I love them exclusively on my left arm and it became a habit to adorn it from wrist to elbow.

Feels like it never ends. And so it it is, it never ends.
Each bracelet came into my life with a story behind another story. If I bought one, it was because the bracelet was born around a beautiful tale that I was living at the time. If I received it as a gift, it carried a story from a dearly beloved who made me a present. Either way, it never ends. My left arm is full of bracelets. My heart became full of enchanted tales that I preciously wear in time with me. Always.

You can discover Andra’s beautiful stories on her blog: http://povesticumiez.wordpress.com. Too bad only Romanian people can understand them. It’s such a loss for anybody else…

And if you're wondering who's responsible for these amazing photos, then you should know that the credit belongs to Cristian Sutu from Foto Union. Thank you Cristi for your support and these wonderful pictures! You can also find Cristi on his blog: www.sutu.ro.

Proud to have it – Cambodian necklace

Ioana and I work in the same field, the one of public relations. Every time I see her at PR dedicated events she makes quite an appearance. She is always very nicely dressed and her accessories, whether shoes or jewelry, are amazing.

Last time I saw Ioana at a PR event I told her about my blog and asked her to tell us about her favorite jewel in her own collection. She had no hesitation in having her pick right away – a special necklace from Cambodia, as you will find out immediately:

I love statement, shocking jewelry. I’m not passionate about gold or diamonds. I like big stones, solid silver and colors.

My favorite necklace is from Cambodia. I bought it from a small shop with creations of local artists in Angkor Wat. I negotiated for it thoroughly. It is made of solid silver and is quite heavy. I must be in a certain mood to wear it as it is a complicated piece of jewelry. It takes an effort to wear this necklace and I'm aware of it at every moment. I always combine it with simple clothes, self-colored, because anything else is pointless. The necklace tells the entire story.

Thank you Ioana for your presentation! I remember you told me you have an impressive jewelry collection so you are welcome on this blog anytime you want to show us more stunning jewels.

Proud to have it – Silver flower ring by Odette Lupu

Guest post by Tereza {Drastic Plastic}

I started my fabulous ring collection 5 years ago thanks to my mom and thanks to the fact that I moved away from my home town. When I used to live at home we used to go shopping together and because now we live in different cities and hundreds of kilometers apart the only things that she can buy without me are rings.

This ring, the flower ring that I’m sharing with you today, I bought it myself from a really talented Romanian jewelry designer, Odette Lupu, former colleague of mine from University. Her rings have a story behind them, mine represents sexuality, stability, sensuality and the sense of security. Sounds pretty good, right?

For more of me and my fabulous self check out my blog Drastic Plastic. BTW, I’m Tereza J.

PROUD TO HAVE IT

It’s been a while since I've been thinking of publishing guest posts on a regular basis. Not any kind of guest posts but only articles in which the writer tells us about her dearest jewelry in her collection.

I am sure that every woman has a preferred jewel that she is so proud of. Think of your collection. There are jewels you simply love and other adornments that you’re not very crazy about but it’s good to have them. It could be a difficult choice to name THE ONE but I am sure everyone has a preference. Maybe it’s the ring your grandmother wore at her wedding and now it belongs to you, or it could the necklace your sweetheart gave you on your fifth anniversary or simply the earrings or bracelet you bought for yourself on a vacation or at a jewelry fair.

I even thought of a special name for these entries and I’ll create a dedicated section. Their mark will be these 4 words – “Proud to have it” so you will know every time you see them that another beautiful and smart woman decided to share with us her preference.

Tomorrow I’ll publish my first guest post. It’s written by my dear friend Tereza (check out her blog to get to know her J).

So do not miss tomorrow’s post, I’ll be waiting for you on jewelryloveaffair.blogspot.com!
